Jim James, chairman and CEO of Ideal Industries Inc., will headline the DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Dinner to be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at Faranda’s Banquet Center in DeKalb.

James has served as president and CEO of Ideal since 2008, and chairman and CEO since 2014.

Ideal Industries is celebrating its 100th anniversary of operation. The company has made its mark by developing the iconic products and practical technology demanded by critical industries such as data communications, aerospace, electrical, wire processing, automotive, construction and more.

Ideal is best known for wire connectors, which have become the go-to standard for electrical connections around the world. Ideal innovations touch the sky – where nearly every commercial jet flying today was made using Ideal wire strippers. Ideal reached the moon, as part of the critical equipment on NASA missions. Best of all, Ideal touches the daily lives of skilled tradesmen around the globe, who reach for Ideal, Western Forge and SK brand hand tools to get the job done.

Earlier this year, Ideal moved into its new $18 million 220,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Sycamore Industrial Park. Existing production operations have been consolidated into the new facility from older buildings and the new facility will house production of innovative new products/technologies being developed by Ideal.

Ideal’s Audacy wireless energy management system was installed in the Chicago Cubs’ new 30,000-square-foot clubhouse and fitness facility located behind the third base grandstand at Wrigley Field. The Audacy wireless system can reduce energy use from lighting by up to 50 percent and is equally simple to install in both large-scale retrofit and new construction projects.

Also this year, Ideal partnered with Northern Illinois University to establish the Ideal-NIU Intrapreneurship Program. Interdisciplinary teams of students have been assembled to prepare business plans to help bring new Ideal products and ideas to market.

The DCEDC event also will feature the annual State-of-the-County Economic Development address. This report will highlight new projects, companies and programs that help expand the DeKalb County economy by creating jobs, increasing the tax base and improving the business climate to support development and operation.

This year marks the 29th DCEDC Annual Dinner. Tickets for members and the public are available at www.dcedc.org through Oct. 26. An Exhibitors Showcase Reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. During the reception, Ideal representatives will demonstrate new state-of-the-art technologies. Dinner will be served from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. and presentations from 7:45 until 8:30 p.m.

Event sponsorships are available for DCEDC members until Oct. 14. Sponsorships also can be purchased at www.dcedc.org.
